Final Project

Here are some images from my final project, a book about a snail and a kite! I hand-bound a few copies, and hope to put a one or two up on my store, The Inky Octopus, soon. =)

Above are two photographs I used as inspiration for my final project: my narrative about a snail. And below is some of my work that I did to work with the colors before painting the final pieces for my book. For this project I wanted to show the changes in the snail’s emotion by using different color schemes.

Week 14 Inspiration

I went to see the musical Grease this weekend with my roommate, and that was a lot of fun. They’re doing the original show at the American Theater Company, since the musical was originally set here. It was surprising how different some of the songs originally were…I couldn’t find any videos from the one we went to, so here’s a clip from the movie.

I’ve been working a lot on my photography final, and I finally got the book published for it…here it is on Lulu.

And for fun, the easter chick cupcakes my roommate and I made, haha:

PS: My response from the MCA is in the readings/discussions section

Color Schemes

Some color schemes based on different references:

Wow, I can’t believe we have less than a month left of school…crazy.

Anyway, I’ve been looking at more animations (of course). They’re quite addictive.

Here’s a motion graphics studio with some wild animations.

I decided to revive my Flickr account a few weeks ago, and I’ve been finding some really beautiful photography on there. Some work I enjoy: p.e.t.e.r and Joseph Rossbach.

Week 12 Inspiration

I’ve been doing some botanical illustrations to help out my boyfriend with his senior final project, so I’ve been looking at a lot of plants and plant illustrations. Here are a few I’ve found interesting:

Here’s another fun animation I came across:¬†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0DDpTYrn0M&feature=relmfu

And ¬†another interesting artist I’ve come across: Carlos Tarrats

I ended up picking Keith Carter for my artist presentation. He has some really beautiful work which you can see at his website. There’s also a nice video of him speaking about his work at the Catherine Edelman Gallery.

Another artist I came across was Tom Chambers. He does some really wild fantasy photography with very vibrant colors.

This project reminded me of another photographer I enjoy: Imogen Cunningham.
